I doubt that there is much hope of an election-year save. To the extent this exists, it is largely because the Fed is a political animal and it helps the incumbent. But there isn’t much capacity for the Fed to do that this time around unless it does something really radical (eg., helicopter money).

Good to hear your comments on the tech world. I think that Dotcom 2.0 is over at this point. I’d be curious for your views on Tesla. Here are mine: http://www.economicmanblog.com/sandbox/2015/10/26/tesla/

Their most recent broadcast was not their best work. I liked your comment there!

My forecast for a recession this year is on par with yours at 50 to 75% likelihood. Election years are usually good ones, and 2016 may eke out the last dregs of our mediocre economic recovery through November. I doubt there will be much of an Obama legacy beyond that, regardless of whom is elected. David Stockman is irascible and often gloomy, but I wouldn’t bet against him now. Technology company blather will not save us. I am a graduate of Stanford University, with an engineering degree, and I can assure you, these social media companies, mobile platform P2P and assorted Internet ideas searching for monetization will be disastrous financially.
