Interesting questions about the two parties. I can’t pretend to be a real expert on UK politics, but there are certainly some major ideological fault lines in both parties. Keeping them together, however, will be the will to power since they know that any splintering would greatly reduce their chances of victory. For this reason, I don’t see the Conservatives breaking up because I think that they are anticipating a long string of victories so long as Corbyn’s wing dominates the Labour Party. Labour is more likely to break up, but this too would take a long time and only if the moderate part of the party ultimately despairs. Both parties will obviously be chastened by the history of the last break up, when the Liberal Democrats were formed. This has not exactly been a happy experience for any of the renegades.

I probably won’t do anything on Corbynomics since it is just a rehash of old left-wing nonsense that has already been refuted a thousand times. Not interesting. Osborne’s overconfidence is a more promising topic, but I am not sure that he is dramatically more guilty of this than any other politician. Is there something specific you would point to?

Roger

And do we see a splintering of both Conservative and Labour parties coming over the horizon? Can you do a piece on Corbynomics and Osborne’s over confidence?
